The effects of MS

The effects of MS are very serious. In can results in paralysis. The cause of MS is unknown, but an autoimmune disease seems most likely.

MS manifests itself with adults usually between the 20th and 40th year of life, at least between 10 and 50 years old. In areas with a mild temperate climate (such as The Netherlands), multiple sclerosis ranks among the most common chronic neuropathies. In The Netherlands there are about 17,000 people with the disease (1 in 1000). The cause of MS is unknown. The disease is (still) not curable.
